Photography, alone of the arts, seems perfected to serve the desire humans have for a moment - this very moment - to stay.” –Sam Abell

photography for life

Remember. That is what a portrait should do – help you remember the feel of a newborn, the look of mischief in your child’s eyes as a toddler, the way her eyes lit up when mom made her smile, how much he loved that stuffed animal, how beautiful her eyelashes were when she looked down, how tiny his feet once were, the times he used to let you cuddle him, the sparkle in her eye… And sometimes a portrait is remembering that one time he actually sat still and looked at the camera! A portrait can also create a memory for loved ones far away.

about us

Rachael Olson - Rachael has enjoyed photography as a hobby as long as she can recall. She can remember begging for a camera and her dad coaching her in how to compose pictures when she was very young. His advice to “always put a person in the picture” led to her love of portraiture.

In high school and college, her friends joked that if you went into her room you’d be stuck looking at pictures for hours. This love of photography led her to take photography classes in high school and college, learn while photographing for the high school paper and yearbook, as well as acquiring skills from other photographers who have graciously shared their tips and experience.

She began taking pictures for others when her friends all started getting engaged and enjoys capturing the memories of a couple’s beginnings. Now that she has a baby, children’s photography has become her new passion.
